Board approves water assessment as development pressures mount

Dartmouth Board of Public Works approves water system assessment as residential development strains infrastructure. The board unanimously approved a $16,200 contract with Tata & Howard for a water system risk and resilience assessment. Director Timothy Barber reported that with the sewer system at 80 percent capacity and over 1,400 housing units proposed, cumulative development impacts require comprehensive analysis to guide decisions on future connections.
The board also rejected a utility contractor's license over prior compliance violations in water-line repairs.
