Board closes 40B hearing, continues Hawthorne deliberations to May 14

DARTMOUTH — Zoning board closes hearing on Tucker Road 40B project. After extensive technical debate over water demand, sewer fees, and groundwater management, the Board of Appeals unanimously closed the public hearing on the Comprehensive Permit for The Residences at Hawthorne, LLC, a 147-unit mixed-income development on 56.3 acres with 37 designated affordable units. Chairperson Michael Medeiros, Clerk Halim Choubah, and Member Alvin Youman unanimously voted to continue deliberations to May 14, 2026, with a statutory decision deadline by May 22 or 23.
Unresolved water demand and irrigation questions remain contested between the applicant and town engineers, with Board Member Choubah calling for rerun hydraulic modeling before final approval.
