Board of Appeals continues Hathaway development hearing; approves two residential variances

Dartmouth Board of Appeals approved two residential property variances and deferred action on a major 300-unit development. Chairman Michael Medeiros and the board unanimously approved a variance for 1 Cleveland Street to construct a home addition with reduced setback and increased lot coverage to 52.7 percent, and granted a special permit for 5 Tern Lane to add plumbing to an existing pool house shed. The board continued its hearing on The Hathaway comprehensive permit application to April 6 following spirited public comment from approximately 10 abutters objecting to the proposed four- to five-story structures, insufficient traffic mitigation, inadequate parking, and incompatibility with the residential character of the Eisenhower Street neighborhood.
