DARTMOUTH — Capital Planning Committee hears police capital requests, sets next agenda. Chief Levesque presented requests for four police cruisers and two administrative vehicles under the department's replacement plan, continuation of the second year of the Axon Taser 10 lease-to-own agreement, and a new staffing study by outside consulting firm to evaluate department staffing levels. Committee members debated whether the staffing study belongs in the capital or operating budget, with Town Administrator Cody Haddad arguing it qualifies as a one-time expenditure with long-term benefits.
Chairman Gary Carreiro reported Priority 1 capital requests total approximately $116 million, including $100 million for a new school, $6 million for a high school roof, and $5.2 million for sewer plant improvements, and recommended reserving free cash for the Fall Town Meeting.
