District panel accepts solar RFP framework, approves disposal contracts for fiscal 2027

DARTMOUTH — Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District Committee backs fiscal 2027 waste disposal contracts. Chairperson John Beauregard and the six-member committee unanimously approved contracts at proposed tonnage amounts and adjusted tip fees, with an agreed modest discount for one existing customer significantly increasing tonnage, as Executive Director Anthony Novelli reported mounting price pressure from waste haulers. The committee also unanimously voted to accept a three-year auditing services proposal from Hague, Sahady & Co., and closed the Interest Waiver reserve account, transferring 75 percent of funds to Equipment Reserve and 25 percent to Recycling Reimbursement.
Project Manager Raphael Wechsler and District Counsel Matthew J. Thomas are finalizing an RFP for photovoltaic solar arrays on landfill rooftops and dual-use installations over cranberry bogs, expected to be advertised soon.
