DARTMOUTH — Finance Committee reviews regional vocational school budget pressures and municipal shortfall. Mr. Watson presented the Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School's FY27 assessment, noting Dartmouth's enrollment has fallen to a five-year low due to a statewide lottery system, though the district plans to expand overall enrollment from 2,150 to 2,400 students by decade's end and modernize its 50-year-old facilities.
Town Administrator Cody Haddad reported a projected $1.6 million gap between school requests and available funding and outlined potential savings of approximately $2 million annually from a proposed switch to a regional health insurance provider, pending union approval. The committee approved the February 12 and February 19 minutes by votes of 5-0-2 each, with two members abstaining on each.
