Finance Committee approves schools reserve fund transfer without dissent.
Finance Committee · Meeting of February 19, 2026
DARTMOUTH — Finance Committee approves schools reserve fund transfer without dissent. The committee unanimously backed the transfer for Dartmouth Public Schools while spending the bulk of its session reviewing the Department of Public Works FY27 budget, presented by Director Tim Barber with input from Treasurer and Budget Director Gary Carreiro and Town Administrator Cody Haddad. The 11% overall DPW budget increase reflects a shift toward significant new biosolids disposal costs (potentially exceeding $1 million annually), higher snow and ice overtime funding (from $52,000 to $100,000), and infrastructure pressures across water, wastewater, and solid waste divisions.
The committee also discussed a proposed $6 million wastewater treatment plant aeration upgrade and the need for roughly $4 million in annual road paving and reconstruction to address more than 200 miles of town roads.
