DARTMOUTH — Finance Committee unanimously rejects police station reuse petition over procurement law concerns. Chairperson Janine Simmons led the seven-member panel in voting 0-7 on May 7, with Town Administrator Cody Haddad explaining that the proposed committee charge would improperly solicit reuse proposals before Town Meeting authorized any sale or lease. The committee recommended the sidewalk snow-removal bylaw with tiered fines: $25 for most properties, $300 for commercial zones and areas within one mile of schools, with enforcement through noncriminal ticketing.
The panel unanimously backed a $450,000 supplement for water department emergency repairs and discussed a cost-saving initiative shifting custodial services from contractors to part-time town employees beginning July 1, expected to reduce annual costs by approximately $40,000, from $100,000 to $60,000.
