Planning Board approves Eversource vegetation work, continues special permit hearing
Planning Board · Meeting of February 9, 2026
Dartmouth Planning Board approves utility vegetation work and continues special permit hearing. The board voted unanimously to grant Eversource Energy approval to prune trees along scenic roadways, with approximately 95 percent of the project involving routine pruning rather than removal and the condition that the company continue coordinating with Town Tree Warden Mr. Barber.
In a separate 4-0 vote, the board continued the public hearing for a special permit application at 813 State Road to February 23, 2026, pending new sewer information from the Department of Public Works. The board also voted 3-0 with one abstention to release $781,168.19 in surety for Bakerville Vineyards subdivision. Board discussion centered extensively on a draft Housing Production Plan prepared by the Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District, with members asking questions about infrastructure capacity, school enrollment impacts, and zoning constraints as Dartmouth works toward meeting the state's 10 percent affordable housing requirement.
