Dartmouth Planning Board discussed a $1.5 million Community Preservation Act funded farmland preservation initiative at its July 13 meeting. The Agricultural Commission would control the new Agricultural Preservation Fund, which aims to purchase conservation restrictions on working farms to keep land in agricultural use permanently and help make farmland more affordable for young farmers. Board members, including Nicholas Psichopaidas, expressed support for preservation goals but raised concerns about a proposed memorandum of understanding governing the advisory group's structure and requested legal counsel review the agreement before proceeding.

The board authorized Planning Director Daniel Gioiosa to approve routine expenses under $1,000, approved prior meeting minutes, and continued a special permit application for 813 State Road to August 10.
