DARTMOUTH — Russells Mills Historic District Commission rejects BBC demolition request by four-to-one vote. The Buzzards Bay Coalition sought to remove a 1972 single-family home at 4 Tannery Lane to create a passive riverside park, offering the $725,000 purchase price down from $1 million list price and securing $575,000 in Community Preservation Committee funding. Only Commission Secretary Matt Cate voted in favor, on condition that all future site plans receive prior approval; Chair Michael Woyciechouski, Vice-Chair Janet Stanton, and members Gerard Koot and Andrew Spongberg voted against, citing village character and historic landscape integrity concerns raised by residents and preservationists.
