School Committee approves sailing team nationals bid, debates district audit proposal.

Dartmouth School Committee unanimously approved the DHS Sailing Team's participation in a National Competition in Maryland. The committee also engaged in substantive discussion about a Town Budget Advisory Group proposal for an independent third-party audit of school district finances, with Committee member Chris Oliver framing it as a potential tool to build public confidence ahead of any future override vote, but no formal vote was taken on the audit proposal. Business Administrator James Kiely noted the District already undergoes three independent financial audits annually conducted by certified public accountants.
The Committee unanimously approved proposed meeting dates for July 2026 through June 2027 and adjusted summer meeting times to 5:30 p.m. to accommodate a member's scheduling constraints.
