School Committee continues FY27 budget debate with funding gap unresolved

Dartmouth School Committee deferred a budget vote as town's 3.5 percent FY27 proposal falls short. Business Administrator James Kiely reported Town Administrator Cody Haddad indicated the $5.27 million increase represents the town's maximum, leaving the district with a $1.61 million funding gap of 2.91 percent. Committee member Chris Oliver stated the proposal fails to meet contractual obligations by 1.5 percent.
Superintendent Dr. Saba-Maguire and Kiely will meet with town administration Wednesday before presenting the budget to the Finance Committee on March 5th. Snow removal costs have exceeded budget at $51,060.77.
