Select Board Approves $3.6 Million in Community Preservation Commitments

Dartmouth Select Board greenlights $3.6 million in community preservation spending for town meeting. Chair Heidi Silva Brooks and her board voted unanimously to advance seven CPA warrant articles including $853,300 for Dartmouth Cultural Center restoration and construction, $461,394 for DCTV exterior historic preservation, and $1.5 million to capitalize an Agricultural Preservation Fund. The board recommended 26 of 27 annual town meeting articles and all three special town meeting articles, though it declined to recommend two citizen petitions regarding police station reuse that Town Counsel deemed illegal under Massachusetts General Law.
In their place, the board voted unanimously to revive the Police Station Re-Use Committee with an updated nine-member structure that replaced an obsolete Director of Development position with the Assistant Town Administrator.
