Dartmouth Select Board approves Eversource utility dig, drops Flock cameras, hires five officers. The board unanimously approved a conditioned permit for Eversource to install nine manholes and 4,155 feet of conduit on Gidley Town Road and more on Fisher Road, after residents complained of "shoddy workmanship" on a similar Westport project. Police Chief Brian Levesque said a June civil-service list of 119 candidates narrowed to five hires — Marquise Adams, Chase Lackie, Tyler Nadeau, Cole Terceira and Hector Rivera — while bypassing candidate Brandon Alvarez.
Levesque also confirmed the department will not renew its roughly $20,000-a-year Flock Safety camera contract, prompting nine public comments and a recommendation from Town Meeting member Keith Murphy that Dartmouth adopt a "Community Control Over Police Surveillance" framework. Auditor Kyle Connor of CBIZ reported a clean FY25 audit with a $23.4 million unassigned fund balance, 18.8 percent of the operating budget. The board also approved contracts for incoming Assistant Town Administrator Maeghan McKee and DPW Assistant Director Sandra Waterman.
