Select Board fills two commission seats

Select Board · Meeting of September 14, 2026

Dartmouth briefs residents on a statewide ballot measure that could reshape local zoning. Town Administrator Cody Haddad told viewers Ballot Question 7 would set a 5,000-square-foot minimum residential lot size statewide, warning that some of Dartmouth's 80,000-square-foot lots could yield "up to 16 houses" if it passes. The Select Board also weighed pending state housing bills, including "Yes in God's Backyard," which would allow up to 30 units per acre on religious-organization land.

In appointments, the board named Ava Cafasso and Krystal Amaral to the Russells Mills Historic District Commission and picked Alexie Rudman over absent candidate Jason Talerman for the Conservation Commission. The board also introduced incoming Human Resources Director Carol-Ann Mello, formerly of Seekonk, and reviewed a roughly 17-article warrant ahead of the October 20 Fall Town Meeting.
