Planning Board Continues 813 State Road Hearing

Planning Board · Meeting of October 5, 2026

Dartmouth Planning Board continues a State Road hearing, spars over a statewide zoning ballot question. The board voted 4-0 twice to continue special permit application PSP-25-2 for 813 State Road to November 2. Chair Lorri-Ann Miller said she personally called resident Frank Leal after his letter on a pending zoning ballot measure, telling him "we can do all the zoning we want... we will have five thousand square foot lots that we cannot do anything about." Alternate Member Kevin Melo pushed back on affordability claims, saying "Do the math. $650 a square foot to build a quality home," and predicted towns like Westport and Freetown would see a buyer influx.

The board also learned SRPEDD's executive director declined to take a position, saying the agency's "role is to support us, not to make a decision." Minutes of August 31 were approved and a town meeting information flyer was planned for distribution around the October 19 meeting.
