Dartmouth Finance Committee approves 11 of 17 warrant articles
Finance Committee · Meeting of September 17, 2026
Dartmouth Finance Committee recommends $1 million for Hawthorne-area conservation deal, holds six warrant articles for more detail. The committee voted 7-0 on eleven Fall Town Meeting warrant articles Thursday, including Community Preservation Act funding for a 29-acre conservation restriction near the former Hawthorne Country Club that Vice Chair Kerrie Parsons said should be described as "one component of," not tied to, the site's existing 40B housing approval. Member John V.
Sousa called the conservation plan "a much better solution to the town" than the approved 65-unit project it could replace. Members also approved $700,000 combined for three stabilization funds, a $1.6 million borrowing authorization for a Route 6 water main project coordinated with MassDOT, and a new $10-fee police cruiser maintenance revolving fund. Six articles, including a proposed beach manager position and sidewalk snow-fine bylaw, were held pending further staff information.
